NAS

Peterhead ASC has joined North Aberdeenshire Swimming Team.  This is a new composite team which has been formed with Ythan, Broch Seals, Huntly and Banff.

Club Wear

The new swim suits have arrived and are available at the desk on a Wednesday night – we only have a selection of sizes available but any size can be ordered.  Both Jammers and Swimsuits cost £12.00 each.  We also have a stock of Speedsocket Goggles at £13.50 each.

Any other club kit requirements can be discussed with Irene Cook.

Caps

We were very fortunate to gain support from “Chep” towards the cost of our swimming caps – these are available at a reduced cost of £3.00 per cap.

Changing Rooms

Unfortunately, there have also been several complaints about the behaviour in the changing rooms, please remember your Code of Conduct that ALL members signed when they joined the club!

Also please ensure that ALL clothes are removed from cubicles and placed in lockers.  The public also have access to the changing area on a Wednesday night and need access to the changing cubicles.  In the past there have been items removed from cubicles so it is also safer to lock everything away!

Prize giving

The prize giving disco has been arranged for Friday 25th November at the Hearties Football Club.

The Upper Deeside Challenge Meet is the next day so no late nights!

A special welcome to the new members who have joined PASC over the past few weeks, if you have any questions at all please feel free to contact Linda or Dianne.  A warm welcome back to Steven Sutherland!

Scottish Schools Championships 2012

The championships are now being held on Saturday 28th November in East Kilbride due to Tollcross pool being closed.

I have arranged the trials for Thursday 17th November at Peterhead Swimming Pool – if you have the qualifying times you will be contacted by your PE teacher or Dianne/Linda to enter primary school swimmers.

RAFFLES

We try to raise funds at our club championship evenings by selling raffles etc – we would welcome any donations for prizes.

Please see Dianne Beagrie, Nicola Angus or Linda Herbert if you can help out.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who continues to volunteer within the club, parents and grandparents who continue to turn up week after week to ensure the club runs as smoothly as possible.

Our AGM is not until early in March but if you would like more information please ask Linda at the desk – we would be delighted to have you onboard!

KELSEY

Congratulations to Kelsey Cook who has been selected to represent "West/North" Scotland in the UK School Games in Sheffield in September.

*****************

Peter Hyman (15) and Kelsey Cook (15) represented Peterhead ASC in the Scottish National Age Groups 2010 at Tollcross in Glasgow during the Easter break.  Tollcross is a 10 lane, 50m swimming arena where top swimmers from near and far compete.

Achieving entry times for this level of competition is a marvellous achievement on its own and despite the lack of pool time available Kelsey Cook secured a place in the finals for 200m Butterfly and in her main event 100m Butterfly.  Lying 5th at the half way mark Kelsey swam a brilliant final 50m to finish in 3rd place and claimed the bronze medal.  Peter swam a good race in the 100m breast and achieved a new personal best time of 1.18.52 LC.
