Welcome back after the summer break and hope you are looking forward to getting back into the water and setting new personal bests and breaking some more club records. We are still short of volunteers to come along and help out, especially poolside on a Wednesday night. We are also looking for people to sit at the desk on a Wednesday night from approx 6.10pm so if you are available please contact Linda Herbert.
SWIMMING The swimming season is just about to start and we have some galas already entered, please check the notice board for details. Congratulations to our Carly Fraser who has been selected to swim at the UK School Games. Carly, Christie, Peter and Kelsey have qualified for the Regional Development Squad which offers 3 additional training days over the coming months. RECENT GALAS Peter Hyman and Kelsey Cook were down to Tollcross for the Scottish Nationals, both swimmers swam really well in a long course championship pool where swimmers from as far as France come to compete. The North District held their Development Meet 21/22nd June in Banff, India Angus bronze 200m breast and Peter Hyman won a bronze and 2 silver medals. The NEASCA Age Groups were held earlier in June where Peterhead swimmers had a great day. Lara Leonard silver 50m Free, Stephanie Cordiner and Abbie Spence both won a gold, silver and a bronze! India Angus silver for breast, Kelsey Cook 2 bronze and a silver. Christie Herbert and Carly Fraser both share the girls trophy with 3 gold medals each and breaking a club record each. The NEASCA and the Mini Meet were “first galas” for some of our younger swimmers who all did really well. Club t-shirts can also be ordered from Irene (473260) Cheaper swimming costumes can be ordered from a supplier on e-bay – several swimmers have already bought suits from the seller and so far they have been really reliable. (Angela.0324) GLENSHEE TRIP The remainder of the deposit is now due for those who are going to Glenshee. There will also be a short meeting Wed 27th (tonight!) at approx 8pm. The bus will be at the car park on Friday 5th September at approx 5.30pm so please make sure that you have all had something to eat as the bus will not be stopping for supper etc. Confirmation of times will be given at the meeting. TRAINING Swimmers are reminded that the training sessions on offer are for YOUR benefit. You should arrive on time, ready and willing to train to your full potential at all times and do as your coach asks. If you are not willing to work and put in the effort then it is a waste of everyone’s time and using up a valuable space within the group. Far too much time is being wasted having to repeat instructions as some swimmers are not listening when they should be, arriving late and so instructions have to be repeated each time another swimmer arrives. Swimmers must realise that the pool time available to Peterhead ASC is very limited and as such we need to make the most use of the pool when we have it. SCOTTISH SCHOOLS TRIALS The trials are planned for 20th November this year, age being as at 31st December 2009 due to the actual Championships taking place in January. Keep an eye on the board for the consideration times! Here are the consideration times from last year but this could change for 2009.
